HAND-SHAPING:
Place dough on a slightly floured surface. Let dough rest for 5 minutes.
Divide dough into thirds. Roll each portion into a 14-inch rope. Place ropes side-by-side on a greased baking
sheet. Braid ropes and tuck ends under securely. Cover with a clean cloth. Place in a warm, draft-free spot to
rise until doubled in size, about 45 to 60 minutes.
Brush braid with egg white. Bake in 375 degree preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until deep golden brown.
1 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 1/2 cups bread flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 large egg
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup raisins
1 large egg white
Add ingredients in the order listed (except raisins and egg white). All ingredients must be at room temperature.
Press SELECT for Dough.
Press START. Bread machine will knead and rise once. When the Bread Machine beeps 10 times, 5 minutes
before the end of the second kneading, add 1/2 cup raisins.
At the end of the program, press STOP/RESET. Dough is ready for hand-shaping, rising and baking.
